What is the chakra system?

What is Reiki?
Reiki is essentially this: a spiritual system in which an "energy" can be accessed for personal "healing". This energy is only part of the whole process implemented by Reiki. It was founded by a Japanese martial artist of Samurai descent in the mid 1920′s after a long period period of performing a harsh meditation practice. His name is Mikao Usui. The system is used today more as a healing modality than a spiritual practice. The practice involved treating yourself and others but also includes meditation as well as the gokai or five principles. The principles were described by the founder as a way to invite happiness into your life. These principle and their modern variations can be beneficial as proven by the scientific studies on happiness, joy, gratitude, compassion, and forgiveness. Unlike most former samurai Mikao Usui did not leave the running of his system to his family. His own sister’s family has vowed to never speak his name again. Running of such schools would provide money for the family. In preventing his family from taking control of the system we might conclude that he did not want anyone person or group controlling it’s study or development. Usui taught a man called Hyashi (surname) who in turn taught a woman from Hawaii of Japanese descent called Hawayo Takata. Mrs. Takata is the individual responsible for bringing Reiki to the west. Contrary to belief Reiki is not from anywhere or anytime other than the 1920s in Japan. The belief that Reiki is older can be attributed to early research into it’s history linking it to Medicine Buddha healing practices. This has been proven to be incorrect. Does Reiki help to heal. Some say yes and others no. There is scientific and medical research being done with varying degrees of success in proving it’s validity while some people consider it quackery. Distant treatments can be done over time and distance. The websites listed below might offer "distant treatments".

Regarding Relaxation:
You could also use something called body scanning or tensing certain muscles and then relaxing them. Muscles tend to hold these negative emotions. Reiki can help as well. The best bet maybe a combination of things. Since, I am not a mental health professional this information is given without any warranty.

Music: Music by Johnathan Goldman or Llewellyn: Reiki Gold are good for relaxing and meditation

The therapeutic effects of music have been a well known fact throughout ages. The Bard's famous words were, “If music be the food of love, play on” and these immortal words ring true for what is Reiki if not love? A Reiki healer does much more than merely transferring energy, a Reiki healer transfers living energy that is healing, loving and compassionate to someone in need.

Music has been used throughout centuries for meditation and ritualistic purposes and music finds its expression in chants, devotional songs, hymns and invocations throughout various cultures and traditions. In the Vedic traditions, the sound of 'Aum' was said to be the primordial sound of the Universe and an invitation to the Gods. It was the only sound that existed before everything else did and is the only sound in the vast emptiness of space, within and without us. Even in the western world, no pantheon would be complete without a God dedicated for music and it is interesting to note that the Gods corresponding to music were also associated with healing and also light, for example: Lugh from the Celtic pantheon and Apollo from the Greek pantheon. This goes to say that music can bring about healing and also light, this light is the Divine light channeled by Reiki.

Music therapy when combined with Reiki can be a powerful healing mechanism. While Reiki can be an attunement to divine energies, music can create the correct atmosphere and increase the vibrational effect of the received energies in order to greatly amplify the healing effects. Sound reaches the ear and as the ear receives the different frequencies of the sound, they stimulate the a nerve that runs right through the middle of the brain that is again distributed throughout all the neural cells that process the sound and promote the associative and cognitive powers of the brain to release latent joyous and creative energies, loosen up, soothe tiredness and induce a feeling of well being and peace.

Music is also commonly used to soothe and stimulate the chakras and the sounds are used to heal pre-existing energy patterns that are residing within the chakras that vibrate on a certain frequency and are different for each chakra. Using reiki music for cyhealing chakras through specially tuned frequencies that vibrate on a certain frequencies could work wonders for balancing any imbalances in the chakras. Reiki music is specially made with high and low tones made to alternate constantly that triggers a stimulus which aids in the therapy. Similarly all the symbols of Reiki are also said to vibrate on a certain frequent which can be reached out to by the different notes of the music specially prepared for this purpose.

Reiki music has been found to be greatly effective for practicing GIM or Guided Imagery Meditation in which certain musical notes are used to attune the mind on a certain frequency which encourages the emotional flow and this further results in the self merging with the Higher Self being carried by the music and this healing music is slow, repetitive, and is like a gently chanted soothing mantra. In the medical world of psychology it is called the Helen Bonny method of GIM.

In modern times there are various choices in new-age music you can find easily. Music is a respite from our hectic lives and serves to soothe us and calm our inner senses and restore balance and harmony. If you seek some solace pick up a piece of Reiki music today.

Reiki is a form of energy healing that has become a popular complement to modern medicine as well as an alternative healing therapy used throughout the world. Although its roots can be traced back centuries, it developed in its modern form in Japan in the early twentieth century. And, it is from two Japanese words (rei and ki) that we get the word Reiki. Roughly translated, Reiki means “universal life energy”.

Practitioners of Reiki believe that there is a type of subtle energy that flows in and around everyone and everything in the universe. It is this universal life energy that a Reiki practitioner attempts to channel to the afflicted person during a healing session.

Reiki practitioners believe that all illnesses have non-physical components. The purpose of a Reiki healing session is to channel additional life energy, or ki, to the person who suffers from some type of physical or mental trauma. The additional energy clears blockages and establishes an increased, and more efficient, internal flow of energy within the person. As this occurs, true healing can begin.

The time needed for an individual healing session varies depending on the client and the particular problem addressed. However, Reiki therapists generally schedule their sessions for 45-60 minutes. The client remains fully clothed during a Reiki session. He or she may lie flat or sit upright. It is especially important that both the healer and the person who has sought out healing feel comfortable, peaceful, and serene during the healing session. Soft lighting and relaxing music are often used by Reiki practitioners to increase these feelings.

When the client is comfortable, the therapist places his or her hands lightly on, or slightly above, the person’s body. The hands of the healer are held palms down with fingers and thumbs extended. During the session, the Reiki therapist will move his or her hands to particular locations on the body, following a specific routine. There are 12-15 Reiki hand positions which correspond to energy centers. The healer will stop at each of these locations to transmit energy. The healer will pause at each location until the flow of energy seems to subside or stop. When the energy flow subsides, the therapist will move to another hand position, working from head to feet. It is important to note that a Reiki healer does not direct the energy in an active sense. The Reiki practitioner is merely a conduit. He or she simply adopts the intent to heal. The life energy itself is intelligent. It goes where it is needed.

A sensation of heat is often taken as an indication of Reiki energy flow. However, a wide range of personal perceptual experiences may be reported by both the healer and the recipient. Among other things, a tingling, coolness, warmth, or the sensation of colors may be experienced.

According to Reiki therapists, people typically leave a Reiki session feeling very relaxed and tranquil. However, recipients of Reiki therapy sometimes experience what therapists call a cleansing crisis. They may feel headachy, nauseous, dizzy, or weak. For Reiki practitioners, these symptoms are the result simply of the body getting rid of toxins and realigning itself to the flow of ki. Rest and increased fluid intake are often recommended to help the person cope with these symptoms.

I am willing to buy some music CDs with collections of some good reiki music tracks. Can u recommend a few CDs?Where can I buy those CDs in India?

I have a healing practice, so I know how important good music can be during treatments – and how GREAT music can even enhance the sessions.

You may wish to sign up for an online mp3 music service so you can download the kinds of music that you want.

Try surfing over to http://www.eMusic.com. They have a HUGE selection of new age and healing music, and it is constantly being updated. For $20 a month you get 50 downloads, and there are no restrictions on those files – they are yours to burn or upload to your players an unlimited number of times forever! There are also no annual contracts – it is month to month and you can cancel at any time with absolutely no hassles.

You can also preview every track, so if you find a cd that you like, but 2 of the tracks aren’t as great, you only have to download the tracks that you like…which leaves you more downloads on your subscription.

Some artists on eMusic that I HIGHLY recommend are Akshara Weave, Kamal, Aeoliah, Llewellyn, Johnathan Goldman…and there are tons more.
