I’ve just recently gotten my level one attunement to reiki and now I just seem to want to read everything I can find on the topic. I was wondering if anyone knows of any good sites besides the standard google results that have quality information about reiki?

I would also love to exchange ideas and info with any other reiki practitioners and hopefully build a small group of friends who share the same interests as me.

I took an introductory course in animal Reiki from Kathleen Prasad at Brighthaven Sanctuary.

She has a website at: http://animalreikisource.com and a Yahoo group called animalreikisource. Many members of her group send Reiki to animals and their owners.

I learned that another person is doing animal Reiki at the local shelter and will be meeting with her this afternoon to get started with the animals there.

Reiki is defined as both a name for the energy produced by a living body and a method of interacting with that energy .

Let’s break the concept down into simpler explanations. If you don’t know what Reiki is, in a nutshell, it is a technique or a spiritual practice that is used to heal. In simpler terms the practice reduces stress and induces deep relaxation, among other benefits.

The technique was developed by Japanese Mikao Usui and was primarily intended as a form of therapy that could be used in tandem with conventional techniques for treating physical, emotional and mental illnesses. It is a healing technique.

The concept of celestial Reiki is the same. But instead of having a spiritual experience limited here on Earth, one who practices celestial Reiki takes into account the other planets of the solar system as well as stars and constellations, particularly the star constellations of the 12 signs of the zodiac.

According to the teachings of Reiki, there’s an energy that can be channeled to help heal diseases. This energy is universal and flows within us as our “life force”. This life force energy dictates our feelings and dispositions. The more active the energy flows through us, the healthier and happier we become.

With celestial Reiki, the “life force” that is used to heal in ordinary Reiki is taken further. The earth’s core “life force” energy is used to heal the mind, body and soul. And since all planets and star systems emit a particular “life force” signature, celestial Reiki practitioners harness that energy and use the energy from the celestial bodies to heal the human body.

Reiki treatment involves the whole body. This includes the body’s physical state and its emotional, intellectual and, of course, the spiritual well being. When you look at it, Reiki is a simple self-improvement technique. And since the “life force” energy it teaches is said to be present in all things, anybody can use this energy to heal and promote recovery.

It’s not limited to individual energy, but encompasses the universe. This is why the “life force” energy in Reiki is infinite. And regardless of how many times or how many people use it, the “life force” energy can always be utilized to heal.

However, Reiki is not taught but rather the ability is transferred by a Reiki master to his student during the stage of what they call “attunement.” At this level, the Reiki master passes the ability of Reiki to a student allowing hem to tap to the “life force” energy which will give him the ability to heal wounds and illnesses and generally improve one’s quality of life.

One need to emphasize, however, that Reiki is not a religion. Instead, those who practices Reiki get more intimate with their own religion, understanding and enriching their own religious beliefs. A Reiki practitioner has to promote the way of good living in order to master the flow of the “life force” and promote harmony and peace for true healing to happen.

Going back to celestial Reiki, what we currently know about the solar system and stars is given a new light by practicing this form of Reiki.

Understand that the universe’s “life force” energy can be channeled it into one’s hands to heal not only on the individual level but eventually heal the whole planet as well. And by connecting with each planet and star system, Reiki practitioners are able to accomplish such feat.

I’m in the Roseville/Royal Oak area of Michigan and I’m looking into Reiki, but don’t want to try just anyone out of the book. Does it really work? What is a fair price for a session, and how long should a session be?

A session should cost approximately the same amount as a massage, whatever that is where you live. Around here it’s $1/minute.
A whole-body session should be 45-60 minutes. More than that and it’s too much. You can do a whole body session energetically in less time, but a big part of the session is the relaxation aspect.
Ask other people who have had sessions who they went to and if they liked that person. Go to new age or pagan stores–they might have someone on staff or someone who comes in once a week and does sessions. If not, they will know someone personally to recommend. Those same stores will have little free holistic health magazines with Reiki people listed. Usually if someone is professional enough to pay for advertising, they are pretty good. They should have no problem talking to you on the phone for a few minutes to see if you like them. Good luck.

What are the reiki chakras and reiki healing techniques .how reiki is helpfull in self treatments ?

Hello

Chakras are Chakras, Reiki simply uses them.

For Reiki healing techniques you will need to find a Master to teach you, but prices can be reasonable.

Reiki helps to release negative energy.

Does anyone know the differences? Are you aware of Japanese Reiki being called Flaky Reiki due to the alterations to this great energy balancing?
Do you know how to speak the terms /symbols/words correctly. One of my Reiki friends from 10 years ago was telling me to say several things that were basically incorrect according to a recent friend from Japan. Does anyone else have this experience

Reiki is a spiritual and healing modality founded in 1922 by Sensei Usui. Contrary to popular belief, Usui was not a priest, and Reiki is not a religion. One of the differences between Usui Reiki Ryoho and Western Style Reiki is that Usui Reiki Ryoho focuses on the Gokai, or Five Precepts, which are a guide to living a happy and fulfilling life. Another difference is that Japanese Style (Usui Reiki Ryoho) focuses more on energy exercises and incorporating those Five Precepts into every day life. Another difference is that Japanese Style does not place as much emphasis on the reiki symbols as much as Western style Reiki. The symbols are just a tool for focus. There are only 4 symbols in Usui Reiki Ryoho, whereas many Western forms have incorporated other symbols. And in fact, the symbols actually were devised by Hayashi and Takata, not Sensei Usui. Usui Reiki Ryoho had many more steps (6 Levels) to become proficient, and students moved up based on their skill to feel byosen and hibiki. Western Style Reiki does not focus on sensing byosen and hibiki as much. In addition, the Usui Reiki Ryoho Gakkai still pretty much is a secret society in Japan, and they are not as open about sharing Reiki to the public. Any Reiki that is practiced in Japan now is really Western style reikiho, as many Japanese still are not comfortable with the concept of "ghost energy", since Rei can also mean ghost. Japanese Style Reiki uses reiju, not attunements to pass on the energy an open energy channels. Sensei Hiroshi Doi is a Japanese Reiki Master who combined both the Traditional Japanese Reiki with Western Style and made his own form, Gendai Reiki.
